TO1: Develop a new testbed for investigating molecular communications. The testbed will involve yeast cells of the opposite mating type (MATa and MATα). MATα yeast cells will serve as biological transmitters and MATa yeast cells will be serving as biological receivers. The transmitters will be triggered to secrete α-type pheromones which are sensed by the receiver cells resulting in the expression of green fluorescent proteins emitting green light which is detected by available equipment. This testbed can serve as a proof of concept demonstration for molecular communications.
TO2: Develop an end-to-end communication model for the testbed to be developed.
TO3: Develop an effective encoding and adaptive detection method to minimize the bit error rates.
